After our Beach Ride, on Sunday, September 5th, we had a series of contests to perform and hand out prizes for. First up was the Slow Race. It went down to the wire, but our own South Bay Steve "Birdie" Burdette won the competition on his NSU Prima scooter. Next up was the Wheelie Contest. There was some serious competition going on here, with the two main combatants being Todd McMillian from the Hard Pack Scooter Club of Orange County, and David Jiro from Hollywood. David managed to beat Todd out by just a couple of feet to become this year's "Wheelie King". Then, it was time for the big Scooter Raffle. There was so much stuff, that we were just throwing extra stuff into the crowd at the end...! Also, the winners of the Scooter Show were announced and handed their great looking trophies, designed by Greg Clauss of Clauss Studios. Best Rat bike went to Darren Beauchamp for his ratted out daily driver Vespa GS. Best Vintage went to Eric DeJong's 57 Vespa. Best Lambretta went to Rod Pick for his two-toned series 2 Lammie. Best Vespa went to Glen K for his bright yellow 125 Vespa. Best of Show went to Nyle Schafhauser of the Hard Pack Scooter Club, for his famous Hot Wheels "Treasure Hunt" Lambretta. Furthest Traveled went to Chris Lundstrom, who traveled 12 and 1/2 hours from San Francisco, on his Bajaj scooter, to get to our rally...! That's great! Pics below are courtesy of Jeff Allen.
